We welcome you in Viljandi on the 1st of May 12 o’clock, when one of the most popular running and Nordic walking race in Estonia will take place.

The idea to organize a running race around lake Viljandi was born in 1928 by a schoolteacher T. Andresson and no one could imagine it will become such a successful and longevous event.  It has become the symbol of Viljandi city’s spots life and consistency. Today it carries the longest tradition among Estonian sports events and we already hope to greet you on our 100-year jubilee in 2029!

Our running and Nordic walking race around lake Viljandi is truly popular event among professional marathoners as well as among amateur runners and walkers. It is the opening race for the spring season. Throughout its history all the best runners in Estonia have participated and enjoyed the race. It is said your career is rather meaningless without winning the grand prix of Viljandi’s race. Further more, the winner’s name is cut into stone every year!

The path around the lake is changeful and the landscape delightful. It is competitors’s challenge to find their own best available path. So the race is always looked forwarded to.
